Bowls and Baked Goods

I believe that housing is a human right, and that food justice is a significant player in racial justice. In my own body, I am always conscious of the manner in which different kinds of foods affect my physical, mental and spiritual health. Access to whole foods, and the ability to avoid processed foods is a privilege reserved for the upper middle class in this country. In my culinary endeavors I try to tap into easy access foods in the urban landscape, and try to make sure each meal is full of nutrients.

Salads and Savory Bowls

Most of my favorite meals come in bowls! The perfect savory bowl is easy to master as well as personalize. Once you find your groove with it, you are sure to meet your new go-to. Most of my bowls follow this basic formula: leafy green base+yummy cold veggie+carb+protein+fat. If I am craving a warm bow, I will substitute the leafy green with cauliflower rice or quinoa as well. Dessert

As a sweet tooth, making delicious dessert that doesn't make my tummy hurt is quite the process. I love having fruit as a main player in a desert, especially in the summer time. As I have venture into the world of paleo I have also begun to explore the alternative sugars such as maple syrup and honey. My family avoids processed flour, so we have a lot of flour alternative favorite recipes. I have found almond flour and "one-for-one" flour to be must haves in the gluten-free kitchen.  Sometimes I just need the comfort of warm chocolate and ice cream! When these moments arrive I get to baking home made ice-cream sandwiches.
