Who is Jane?

Get to know a little about who I am and what I have to offer

Who am I?: Welcome

I am a biracial and bilingual San Francisco Native. I grew up in the Mission, went to SOTA (School of the Arts or Ruth Asawa SOTA for the modern kids) where I specialized in Theatre and had a long and lovely reign as Student Body President. While attending undergrad at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs (read PWI) I experienced severe culture shock, and although painful, it helped me meet some of the most inspirational and giving women that I am so happy to call my best friends.

I am dedicated to community building and political participation, an intersection which I know and believe social change can take place. I am passionate about working on behalf of social, racial, gender and economic justice issues. I believe in shifting power away from age old structures which comprise the humanity of the masses. I believe the power must lie with the people.

I am a librarian’s daughter, which is to say I am always reading at least one book. I believe in shifting power structures but recognize the prevalent role of capitalism in today's society, and try to be a conscious consumer. I am pescatarian, oftentimes paleo, and a big fan of the occasional bag of flamin hot cheetos with lime. I am an avid knitter, greatly inspired by my best friend and my Grammy.  I am a deeply spiritual being, drawing inspiration from tarot, the teachings of the Egyptian God Thoth (known by the Greek name Hermes Trismegistus), and very interested in further exploring more ancient spiritual practices in non-western civilizations.

On this website you will find book recommendations under “Read”, how to harness your purchasing power under “Spend”, recipe suggestions under “Eat”, my knitting creations under “Knit” and a bit about my spiritual path under “Practices”.
